First Solids: November 11, 2008. He sure enjoyed his rice cereal! He was such a neat eater that Mommy had to make a mess of his face for the photos :-)

Gavin's First Holy War: November 22, 2008. Utes vs. BYU... We watch the game every year and it's the only time we care about football. The Utes were undefeated and dominated the Crimson Tide this year. They should have been the national champs!

Thanksgiving 2008. We went to Great Grandma's house. Didn't Gavin look sharp?

November: Trip to Cali

The California clan finally got to meet Little Man! It snowed in Utah while we were there and we didn't want to leave the beautiful 65-degree weather. We stayed with Grandpa Tito, Grandma Raquel and Auntie Eileen. Gavin got to meet all sorts of new people. He saw the beach and put his toes in the ocean. Mommy and Daddy decided to buy a house on the beach. HA!

Ok, here's what we've been up to in the past few months:

August:

We went to my cousin Paul's wedding in Moab, UT on August 17th. Gavin loved kamping at the KOA and hiking through Arches National Park!

We went to a Salt Lake Bees game on August 22nd. Look how cute Gavin's baseball outfit is!

We went to Oktoberfest at Snowbird on August 30th. Gavin wanted the beer SO badly...

...and Godmama Jill bought him his favorite new toy, Hans Frog.

Yes, I know. I havene't updated the damn blog since you-know-who-knows-when. It's mostly because Little Man has virtually stopped napping during the day. Yes, he's sleeping through the night, but he takes two half hour naplets during which I have to do dishes, laundry and other cleaning, make lia sophia calls and such, eat, and MAYBE take a shower. Forgive me if I can't stand to make him sit in his crib and cry while I make sure I have an immaculate house and Stepford hair. Oh, and an updated blog...
I'm working at Elase today, so I am without photos for the events we need to blog. I promise I'll put them up eventually. Emphasis on eventually...

WTF?!

Gavin's eight-week check up was a week and a half ago. My teeny, tiny baby now weighs 12 1/2 pounds and is 24 inches long. Every mother I've ever known has said that her baby grew too fast, but I just smiled politely and nodded. Why didn't someone warn me that my baby would grow too fast?!

Those of you who are parents probably recall what else happens at this monumental appointment. A nurse walks in with a huge syringe and jams it into your sweet angel baby's leg....and then the screaming begins. I've heard Gavin scream quite a bit, but never like this soul-peircing, terrified, painful scream. I damn near lost it. Guess who's taking him in for his boosters?!

...and, no, it's not just gas. He's finally flashing social smiles! I took this one as I was making ridiculous faces and speaking mommy-ese. It cracks him up. As soon as we have some better smile shots, I'll post them. For now, here's Little Man's first smile.

Oh, and look how BLOND he is! His hair is really curly when it's wet-it's just too fine to hold the curl. I still have no idea how all those recessive genes came through.

It seems that a whole month and a half has been sucked into the abyss of parenthood... What do you mean he's six weeks old?! I just gave birth two days ago! Not to be overly cliche and mushy, but this Mommy gig is truly the most difficult and rewarding thing I have ever done. This past week was especially hard because Gavin and I are fighting a cruddy cold.

Anyway, we took Gavin to the Riverton Town Days carnival and fireworks on Independence Day. Despite sitting too close to the launch pad and thus sending me into a frenzy of mother worry about my baby's tiny eardrums, a good time was had by all. Oh, and as new proud parents we bought the compulsory holiday outfit so we could show it off on our blog:

Daddy's Turn

So, I guess I should probably contribute to our family blog, since I am head of the family and all (yeah right)! :) Having Gavin has been the best experience in my life thusfar. He is such an amazing little man. It's so awesome to look at his face and see so much of myself and Emily in him. No doubt he has changed our lives, but it has been for the greater in every way. I love this boy with all my heart and I am so in love with my wife and thankful to her for giving me this perfect gift.

Anyway, enough of the gushy stuff, let's move on to something fun. Last Sunday, June 29, Gavin had his first trip to the beach. Well...as close to a beach as we get in Utah. We spent the day with Grandpa Greg and family at Bear Lake. Little man got to experience a roadtrip, his feet in the sand, and a half-dunk in the lake all in a day. You'll see in the pictures, that he started the trip in a perfect "beach bum" outfit. However, part of the roadtrip included him blowing out of a diaper and all over himself, his clothing, his carseat, and as we cleaned it up...his parents. That was nice. Despite it all, it was a great day for the Camachos at the beach. We had tons of fun, and hopefully you will too checking out the pics. I'm out.

Yes, yes, I know that the point of a blog is to actually post blogs, especially when monumental events take place. Monumental events such as the birth of your first child, perhaps?

Gavin Orlando Camacho was born Thursday, May 29th at 5:34 pm after 39 hours of labor and 4 1/2 hours of pushing. He weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. It felt like running a marathon without training for one.

At his 2 week doctor's appointment, he was 21 1/3 inches long and weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Four weeks later, baby is growing like the morning glory in Mommy's garden and Mommy is almost un-traumatized. She ALMOST fits into her normal pants. Now for the barrage of photos!

Here we go...I finally jumped on the blog train. I'm sitting here in early labor waiting for Gavin Orlando Camacho to make his debut. It's the perfect time to set up a family blog, right? Now our out-of-state family can keep up with the Camachos and Emily can finally become technologically saavy enough to upload photos and such. More to come, as soon as we've got more to show off than our spoiled little pug dogs...
